FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 7, 2022
Connecticut—The Board of Directors of The Utility Contractors Association of Connecticut (UCAC) announces a major expansion of their annual Scholarship Program beginning with this spring’s awards. UCAC has been awarding funds to the children of members heading to traditional four-year schools for many years and will continue that commitment to supporting our members while expanding the program to a larger community.
Working closely with the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS), UCAC will open the scholarship application process to students of thirteen programs of study based at many of the CTECS schools across the state. UCAC will offer students in the following programs the ability to apply for funds: Automotive Collision, Repair and Refinishing; Automotive Technology; Carpentry; Diesel and Heavy-Duty Equipment Repair; Electrical; Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning; Masonry; Mechatronics; Mechanical Design and Engineering Technology; Plumbing and Heating; Precision Machine Technology; Sustainable Architecture and Welding and Metal Fabrication.
David Duff, President of UCAC commented, “Workforce Development is always top of mind for UCAC and our member companies. We want to help the next generation of skilled tradespeople in Connecticut get the training, equipment and resources they need to succeed. There are many scholarship programs for students headed to college – and students choosing a different path need to be supported.”
The UCAC Scholarship Fund is supported by an Auction held each November and smaller fundraisers throughout the year. Anyone wishing to support this expansion in support of trade school students may contact Barb Dimauro, Executive Director of UCAC at 860.631.7473 or ed@ucac.pro.
